Common Pleas
Common Pleas Courts have jurisdiction in criminal felony cases and in civil cases in which the amount in controversy is more than $15,000.00.
Municipal Court
Municipal Courts handle misdemeanor criminal cases and traffic charges, as well as civil cases in which the amount in controversy is less than $15,000.00.
Please be advised that anyone entering the Hamilton County Courthouse must enter the building and go through a Sheriff’s Security Checkpoint. Between the hour of 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. patrons will encounter much longer lines and wait times. Please make sure to take this into consideration when determining your arrival time. Note: Courthouse will open daily at 8:00 A.M.
